This footage isn’t sped up, the newly released and lightened BMW M4 CSL M4 CSL Nürburgring lap record is real, with telemetry and narration of the famed Green Hell. Jump onboard with us for the mega lap.
The video, supplied by none other than the BMW M YouTube channel, has Jörg Weidinger push the third Coupe Sport Lightweight model to come out of the Bavarian stables around the Green Hell in spectacular fashion. The latest and newest creation from BMW has been spotted testing at the track on multiple occasions, which means that it is honed for track driving and all-out performance.
The reason the car is still adorned in camo and no BMW badges are visible is because this was all conducted while the model was still being tested at the ring – who knows, this time might even be broken in the near future now that the covers are off and no secrecy around the model is paramount.
The new M4 CSL Nürburgring lap record currently stands at 7 minutes and 20,20 seconds which puts it marginally off the Nissan GT-R lap record from 2013 and two seconds off of the Porsche 911 GT3 (991.2) time from 2017. In doing so it has become the fastest street-legal production BMW to ever lap the famed 20,83 km circuit.
The inline-six motor has had a healthy dose of power injected into it and now puts out an impressive 405 kW and 650 N.m while shedding an unnecessary 108,8 kg at the same time. It also boasts some other upgrades over its standard counterpart including an aerodynamic package, ceramic brakes and adaptive suspension electronically controlled dampers as standard equipment
This all means that the new M4 CSL Nürburgring lap record saw the model achieve 300 km/h just past the 7 minute mark – mind boggling stuff!
