Opel has finally fully unwrapped its new Mokka, handing the second-generation version of the crossover radical exterior styling and a digital cockpit.
Interestingly, the Rüsselsheim-based firm will launch the newcomer in battery-powered form, featuring an electric motor delivering 100 kW and 260 N.m. This powertrain has an electronically limited top speed of 150 km/h, with the 50 kWh battery (covered by an eight-year warranty) offering a claimed range of 322 km.
Opel furthermore says the new Mokka will be offered with “particularly efficient” diesel and petrol engines down the line. Based on the PSA Group’s CMP architecture, the new Mokka is lighter than its predecessor, while also gaining torsional stiffness.
While the wheelbase is a mite longer than that of the original model, overall the new Mokka is a full 125 mm shorter than its forebear at 4 150 mm long. The front overhang has been cut some 61 mm and the rear by 66 mm, while the vehicle’s width has grown 10 mm. Opel says luggage capacity is 350 litres.
As you’ve no doubt noticed, the new Mokka debuts the German brand’s latest family face, dubbed the “Opel Vizor”. Inside, you’ll find what the firm calls the “Pure Panel”, comprising screens measuring 10 and 12 inches in diameter.
