New Renault Kangoo range revealed and ready to battle VW’s Caddy…

Renault has revealed its new Kangoo range, which again includes both passenger- and light commercial vehicle variants.

Set to take on the likewise box-fresh Volkswagen Caddy line-up, the new Kangoo range includes a five-seater passenger vehicle as well as a van. Both will be produced at the automaker’s Maubeuge factory in France. Interestingly, the upcoming Mercedes-Benz T-Class will be based on this new Kangoo.

The Kangoo Van is aimed “mainly at fleets, craftsmen and traders”, and boasts what Renault describes as the “widest side access” point in its class. It will be available in two body lengths and offered (with manual and automatic transmissions) in diesel, petrol and electric flavours. Renault has yet to release full details of the powertrain range.

Interestingly, the Boulogne-Billancourt-based firm has also unwrapped a new Express Van, effectively a budget version “intended for young entrepreneurs and small fleets” with more “basic” needs.

A five-seater version of the Express has furthermore been revealed, combining five seats and a “large” load volume. Renault says this model is “aimed at entrepreneurs for mixed use”. Both Express-badged models will be produced in Tangier, Morocco.
