When Volkswagen finally unwrapped its new Golf 8 GTI at the end of February 2020, the images were limited to static studio shots. But now the Wolfsburg-based firm has released fresh photographs of its latest hot hatch.
Like the recently released promotional video footage, these new images were shot at Killarney International Raceway and other areas around Cape Town.
As with the car featured in the studio images, this particular GTI is finished in red and wears optional 18-inch alloys.
As a reminder, the new GTI draws its urge from a version of VW’s familiar EA888 engine. The turbocharged 2,0-litre, four-cylinder petrol unit now delivers 180 kW and 370 N.m. Transmission options include a six-speed manual gearbox and a seven-speed dual-clutch cog-swapper, although only the latter will be offered when the front-driven Golf 8 GTI arrives in South Africa towards the end of 2020.
