Turbocharging? Nah. Hybrid technology? Nope. The next-generation Ferrari F12 Berlinetta will eschew such notions and retain its naturally aspirated V12 engine, if the latest reports are to be believed.
Yes, according to German publication AutoBild, the flagship of the Italian automaker’s range won’t have to endure engine downsizing, nor forced induction, nor the sort of hybrid technology seen on the LaFerrari.
Instead, the 6,3-litre V12 will reportedly remain in place, with peak power increased to somewhere in the region of 600 kW (up from the current 554 kW).
So, how will the next F12 – which is expected to arrive by 2019 – meet the world’s increasingly strict emissions standards? Well, an insider told AutoBild that the new model would be both smaller and lighter than the current model. And significantly so.
The report furthermore suggested that the next-generation F12 would feature plenty of new active aero systems to allow it to make better use of all that oomph.
