Next-gen Ford Ranger Raptor to launch in RHD with petrol V6 – report

By: CAR magazine

A fresh report out of Australia claims the next-generation Ford Ranger Raptor will launch with a petrol-flavoured V6 engine, including for right-hand-drive markets.

According to CarExpert.com.au, a camouflaged right-hand-drive Ranger Raptor prototype recently spotted Down Under sounded just like the Bronco being tested alongside it.

The Bronco in question, of course, draws its urge from a turbocharged 2,7-litre V6 petrol engine, which delivers 231 kW and 540 N.m to all four corners via a ten-speed automatic transmission. And it’s this six-cylinder engine the publication claims will be offered in the new Ranger Raptor, likely in both right- and left-hand drive.

As a reminder, the current-generation Raptor is offered exclusively with a 157 kW/500 N.m 2,0-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel mill, an engine CarExpert.com.au claims will be carried over to the new version as an option. A 3,0-litre turbodiesel V6 producing 190 kW and 600 N.m is seemingly also on the cards.

The new Ranger line-up will again be built at Ford’s Silverton assembly plant in South Africa, with the Blue Oval brand having just announced a fresh $1,05-billion (R15,8-billion) investment into its South African operations. The next-generation Volkswagen Amarokwill be produced alongside the Ranger.
