The V8 SUV is a staple product in the Middle East which is exactly why Nismo has decided to continue its rendition of the Patrol which will continue to sit alongside the likes of the GT-R and 370Z in the Japanese brand’s performance stable. As a follow-up to the 2015 model, this generation features a number of performance upgrades of the standard Patrol including some handling revisions for the chassis and, more importantly, more power.
To fulfill the look of performance, the Nismo Patrol has been detailed with a sporty makeover which consists of a bumper with an integrated splitter and side ducts which aim to achieve zero lift force. The rear bumper has been designed to be more symmetrical as it adds dark chrome inserts and a LED fog lamp placed in the middle. This is complemented by a newly designed roof spoiler. At the profile, a bold pair of side skirts and a set of 22-inch two-tone alloy wheels, which lower the overall mass by 4,5 kg, have been fitted to complete the dynamic theme.
The big SUV isn’t all show. Nismo has fitted a set of Bilstein shock absorbers to provide the Patrol with sportier handling characteristics to make it faster around the corners. Giving it improved straight-line speed are some revisions to the naturally aspirated 5,6-litre V8 engine. Each mill has been tuned by the brand’s four ‘Takumi’ craftsmen who also assemble the GT-R’s engine at the Yokohama plant. Through their skills, the engine delivers an improved 319 kW and 560 N.m of torque.
For the driver and passengers, the interior has been designed to match the exterior’s performance-minded nature with its black Alcantara steering wheel complemented by red carbon fibre inserts. The headrests are embossed with the signature Nismo logo to round off the sporty cabin.
