The folks over at Overfinch has made a habit of creating interesting bespoke Land Rover products. The latest derivative from Jaguar Land Rover’s stable to receive the firm’s styling updates is the Range Rover Velar.
Like many of its offerings, the British tuner says this Velar features a “minimalist design for maximum impact”. Less is more, then. The company adds that each item can be specified individually to ensure customers have “greater freedom of choice”.
The components to choose from are Overfinch’s signature carbon-fibre grille (with black, bright or satin chrome detailing), an extended front splitter and what the Leeds-based firm describes as “front aperture surrounds”. At the rear, an updated diffuser (with branded exhaust tips) and spoiler can be fitted.
All parts, except for the aforementioned grille, can be specified in a “state-of-the-art” technical composite. This strong yet lightweight material, which is finished in gloss black, is exclusively available to the Velar. Carbon-fibre bits are on offer, too, but these cost considerably more.
The complete carbon-fibre body kit costs £16 454,40, which by our calculations is a whopping R300 700 premium on top of the price of a Velar (in R-Dynamic guise). For reference, the original car’s cost ranges from R979 283 to just below R1,4-million. Specify the full technical composite package (seen on the car featured here) and you’ll be expected to pay £12 855 (which translates to R234 880).
However, if power is what you require, Land Rover recently revealed its flagship Range Rover Velar, which employs a 405 kW 5,0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine. The SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition, as it is called, will be manufactured for only one year. Pricing for this model will start at R1 714 000.
