The first production-spec 1 416 kW pure-electric Battista hyper GT is set to make its debut in August at Monterey Car week, with the ultra-rare Battista Anniversario making an appearance too at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance alongside a fleet of iconic Pininfarina-designed vehicles, celebrating more than 90 years of design excellence.
Finished in exquisite black exposed carbon fibre bodywork with black gloss precision polished ‘Impulso’ rims, the Battista really does show off the capabilities of the Cambiano atelier facility in Italy, a point further driven home by its black sustainable luxury leather, striking Iconica Blu contrast stitching and quilted Pilota seats, finished in distinctive Iconica Blu Alcantara.
“We are excited to showcase the beautiful and sustainable future of luxury to our clients, while celebrating more than 90 years of Pininfarina design heritage during Monterey Car Week,” said Per Svantesson, CEO of Automobili Pininfarina.
The fastest and most powerful Italian sports car ever made, the Battista is said to be the pinnacle of sustainable luxury, now further emphasised by the announcement of Pininfarina’s bespoke personalisation programme which will allow even further customisation of the hyper GT.
Offering an experience that few other cars can match, the Battista will supposedly accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than two seconds while offering a specially developed soundtrack both inside and outside, said to “elevate the driving experience” but also preserve the unique sensations of piloting a high-performance electric vehicle.
With only 150 Battista units earmarked for production, order-books are open with North America and Europe set to account for the majority of sales. At $2,2 million (approximately R31,4 million) before duties and no local agent in South Africa, it’s not likely that the ultra-exclusive hyper GT will make it to local shores. If any do though, it’s great to know that it’s available with a possible ten-year manufacturer warranty on its batteries – wonderful.
