The French Grand Prix surprised many fans when it produced one of the best races that the Paul Ricard circuit has seen in a long time.
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won the team’s third race in a row as Mercedes were outwitted by the energy drink team’s strategy to use the undercut and pit Verstappen early.
Reigning world champion finished second after losing the lead on the penultimate lap as Verstappen’s pace and tyre grip proved too much for the 36-year-old. Hamilton is 12 points behind the Dutchman ahead of this weekend’s Styrian GP in Austria.
The race takes place at the Red Bull Ring and is one of the calendar’s power circuits, featuring just eight corners and is dominated by three straights. Red Bull’s power advantage from its Honda engine will give them the edge at their home race and makes Verstappen the favourite to grab a second consecutive win.
