The folks over at Automann-TV have published a video giving us an idea of how the new Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI Clubsport sounds.
Following the YouTube channel’s earlier video showing 0-100 km/h and 100-200 km/h sprint times, this latest clip concentrates on the Clubsport-badged hot hatch’s soundtrack.
Take note, of course, since this footage was filmed in Europe, the exhaust system includes a petrol particulate filter that likely saps at least some aural enthusiasm. In addition, the Clubsport in question is fitted with the standard system rather than an Akrapovič item.
The video includes some in-car footage, clips of the Golf GTI Clubsport blasting past the camera, some static revving (including a cold start) and a few sound bites recorded by a camera affixed to the rear of the vehicle.
As a reminder, the Golf 8 GTI Clubsport boasts 221 kW and 400 N.m from its EA888 turbocharged 2,0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine, which are advantages of 41 kW and 30 N.m compared with the standard GTI. All that oomph is directed to the front axle via a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission as standard.
In October 2020, however, Volkswagen South Africa told us the new Golf 8 GTI Clubsport was not destined for local roads.
