Porsche says it delivered a total of 191 547 vehicles worldwide in the first nine months of 2020. This figure is some five percent down on the corresponding period in 2019, thanks to the impact of COVID-19.
So, which were the Zuffenhausen-based firm’s best-selling models in the first three quarters of the year? Well, the Cayenne (including the Cayenne Coupé) was the most popular overall with 64 299 units sold, followed by the Macan on 55 124 units.
And the 992-generation 911 range? Well, as many as 25 400 units were registered during the first three quarters of the year. The all-electric Taycan, meanwhile, managed 10 944 units.
While Porsche has not released sales figures for the 718 Cayman and Boxster twins nor the Panamera, by our maths the two model ranges accounted for almost 36 000 units.
“Porsche is demonstrating resilience in the face of the coronavirus crises. Thanks to a fresh, updated product portfolio, we have been able to keep the decline in deliveries to a moderate level,” said Detlev von Platen, member of the Porsche’s executive board for sales and marketing.
“The Chinese market has recovered quickly after the lockdown, and demand in other markets is also showing significant growth once again – all of which has contributed to achieving this result.”
Indeed, China was again the largest single market for Porsche in pure volume terms, accounting for 62 823 vehicles from January through September. The Asia-Pacific, Africa and the Middle East regions contributed 87 030 units, with the United States adding 39 734 units and Europe some 55 483 units.
