Porsche is said to be working on a more hardcore version of its Cayenne Coupe, which the company hopes will make it a stronger contender against the 478 kW Lamborghini Urus.
According to Autocar, this new version of the Cayenne Turbo will be revealed around mid-year as part of an updated Cayenne line-up.
According to the UK publication, the newcomer will be powered by a beefed up version of the current 4-litre twin-turbo V8, producing around 470 kW. And sure, that doesn’t make it the most powerful Cayenne ever, given that the Turbo S e-hybrid ships with 500 kW thanks to its electric assistance, but the new version will be the most potent non-hybrid Cayenne on the block.
But this package is about more than just power, as Autocar reports it will come with a sophisticated aerodynamics package that makes extensive use of carbon fibre. Expect this to be among numerous weight-saving measures, and don’t be surprised if there are some bespoke chassis enhancements to make it more track-focused. Buyers can reportedly also look forward to a titanium exhaust system.
The current Porsche Cayenne was introduced in 2018, so it is due for a mid-life upgrade. Watch this space for more information about the new line-up as it becomes available.
