The new Haval H9 has officially launched in South Africa, with the single four-wheel-drive version of the seven-seater SUV offered locally priced at R599 900.
The body-on-frame H9 slots in at the very summit of the Chinese automaker’s local range, above the front-wheel-drive H6, H2 and H1.
Powered by a turbocharged 2,0-litre petrol engine worth 180 kW and 350 N.m (the latter on tap from 1 800 r/min through to 4 500 r/min), the H9 boasts a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission. The fuel tank, meanwhile, holds 80 litres of petrol. The H9 comes with six driving modes (Auto, 4L, Sport, Sand, Snow and Mud), while the rear axle features a limited-slip differential.
Inside, you’ll find leather seats in all three rows, including an eight-way electrically adjustable driver seat with lumbar support and memory function, plus four-way electrically adjustable front passenger seat with ventilation and massage. The second row is manually adjustable while the final row is electrically foldable, freeing up a claimed luggage volume of 747 litres.
Other standard features on the H9 2,0 Petrol 4WD Luxury include three-zone climate control, an eight-inch touchscreen system, satellite navigation, automatic headlamps, panoramic sunroof, roof rails, side steps and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Safety equipment includes six airbags, Isofix child-seat anchors, a tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, cross-traffic alert and lane-change alert.
The H9 comes standard with Haval’s five-year/100 000 km warranty as well as a five-year/60 000 km service plan.
