Pricing! Opel Crossland X range expands with turbodiesel model…

Opel South Africa has expanded its (previously petrol-only) Crossland X range with the addition of a new turbodiesel variant, taking the number of derivatives in the local line-up to five.

The oil-burning version of the Crossland X will hit local dealers in mid-June in Enjoy specification, with its 1,6-litre turbodiesel heart linked to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. The engine generates 68 kW and 230 N.m, with a claimed fuel consumption of 5,4 L/100 km.

So, how much are we looking at here? Well, the diesel model will start at R348 450, matching the price of the petrol-powered 1,2-litre Enjoy (though that model is fitted with an automatic transmission). The price includes a three-year/120 000 km warranty and a three-year/60 000 km service plan (with intervals of 15 000 km).

The Enjoy specification level includes items such as parking sensors (fore and aft), cruise control (with a speed limiter), an electronic stability programme, hill-start assist, lane departure warning and six airbags.

The German firm’s IntelliLink infotainment system (with six speakers) also ships standard. A reversing camera, meanwhile, will be optionally available.
