Toyota South Africa Motors has rolled out upgrades to its rationalised Quantum range, while also handing the Hiace Ses’fikile a fresh feature.
The Japanese firm’s local arm says it has added an “upgraded driver guard” to the Ses’fikile commuter “in response to the prevailing COVID-19 operating conditions”.
The company says the “enhanced” driver guard provides “additional protection” for the driver against possible COVID-19 transmission. All Hiace Ses’fikile models produced from October 2020 onwards gain the new feature as standard.
The Quantum range, meanwhile, has been rationalised to six derivatives, with the non-air-conditioned models from the Panel Van and Crew Cab ranges being discontinued “based on market response and customer feedback”. In addition, the Crew Cab line-up no longer features the rear air-conditioned variant.
So, what changes have been made? Well, the Quantum GL bus upgrades from steel wheels to 16-inch alloys wrapped in 235/65 R16 rubber. Both the 11- and 14-seater models now ride on 16-inch wheels. GL-spec bus models furthermore gain an electro-chromatic rear-view mirror as well as a reverse camera display.
Toyota SA Motors says the Quantum Panel Van and Crew Cab derivatives likewise benefit from the new auto-dimming rear-view mirror and reverse camera upgrade.
All Quantum models ship standard with a nine-service/90 000 km service plan (with 10 000 km intervals) and a three-year/100 000 km warranty. Hiace Ses’fikile models, meanwhile, feature a six-service/60 000 km service plan and a warranty matching that of the Quantum.
