Production of the facelifted Mercedes-Benz V-Class has commenced at the German firm’s Vitoria plant in Spain ahead of its introduction to South Africa.
Revealed at the end of January 2019, the updated V-Class has now started rolling off the assembly line, after some 209 000 units of the pre-facelift model were sold since its launch in 2014.
The refreshed model boasts an updated front end, new four-cylinder diesel engines and the availability of a nine-speed automatic transmission for the first time. In addition, various safety and driver assistance systems have been updated.
However, as we discovered when we drove the new 176 kW V300d in Spain in mid-April, the new OM654 diesel engines (and, of course, their nine-speed automatics) will not be available in South Africa when the updated V-Class touches down in the third quarter of 2019…
