Land Rover has dropped its 405 kW supercharged 5,0-litre V8 into the Range Rover Velar to create this, the new SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition. And the fresh flagship is scheduled to launch in South Africa in the second half of 2019, priced from R1 714 000.
Developed by Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations, the new model will be sold by dealers for just a single year.
Thanks to its eight-cylinder engine (mated to all four corners via an eight-speed automatic transmission), the British firm says the Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition will hit 100 km/h from standstill in 4,5 seconds, before topping out at 274 km/h.
The new model will boast uprated brakes (with 395 mm discs up front and 396 mm items at the rear) and suspension components, plus what Land Rover describes as “bespoke settings for everything from the powertrain to the safety systems”.
So, how will you identify one out of the road? Well, the SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition features a model-specific front bumper with larger air intakes and a new grille, while new lower side mouldings and a revised rear bumper design (now featuring integrated quad tailpipes) are also included.
The “Range Rover” lettering on the bonnet and tailgate, meanwhile, features a knurled finish. The SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition is also the only Velar available in a Satin Byron Blue metallic paint finish. Regardless of which of the six exterior colours are specified, a Narvik Black roof will ship standard.
Lightweight 21-inch alloys are also part of the package, while 22-inch items will be offered as an option. Red brake callipers featuring “Land Rover” lettering are furthermore included, with understated gloss-black items optionally available.
Inside, you’ll find twin-stitched, perforated and quilted Windsor leather (in a choice of four colours) unique to the SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition along with 20-way adjustable heated and cooled front seats (with memory and massage functions).
The cabin also features a unique sports steering wheel with a “specially contoured rim” and aluminium gearshift paddles. The rotary gear selector and circular control dials for the Touch Pro Duo infotainment system all feature a knurled finish, a theme repeated (albeit it digitally) on the dials in the 12,3-inch instrument cluster.
