Renault has whipped the covers off its new Alaskan Ice Edition double-cab bakkie at the Geneva International Motor Show, with the show car previewing an upcoming limited-edition model.
The special-edition bakkie – fittingly finished in an ice-white hue with black and red accents – is offered with a two-tone canopy (with lockable tailgate) and a list of “specially designed” custom features.
The latter includes a black styling bar, 18-inch black alloy wheels, wheelarch protectors, all-terrain tyres and a shark antenna. Inside, you’ll find leather seats and an audio system that plays through Focal stereo speakers with Dôme Flax technology.
The Alaskan Ice Edition is furthermore fitted with the “full range” of Alaskan custom options, accessories and conversion options.
As with the standard model, power comes from the 140 kW/450 N.m 2,3-litre turbodiesel engine shared with the Nissan Navara (and Mercedes-Benz X250d).
Of course, the standard Renault Alaskan has yet to reach South Africa, with the local arm of the French brand earlier telling us the bakkie’s introduction depended entirely on global right-hand-drive production volumes…
