Renowned for its fashion and trade fairs, Düsseldorf was recently set abuzz by the 2021 Caravan Salon and the perfect place for Renault to present their all-new Trafic SpaceNomad.
Following a trial period on the Swiss market, marketing of the SpaceNomad has now been extended to Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, and France. The perfect post-lockdown travel companion, the SpaceNomad is available in two lengths with either four seats or five seats and offers enough space for two large beds, a shower and even a kitchenette thanks to its pop-up roof.
The basis for the French traveller, reminiscent of the iconic Renault Estafette, is the new Renault Trafic, with the conversions then done by campervan manufacturer Pilote. Production takes place at Renault’s Sandouville plant in Normandie, France. A wonderfully practical base to start from, the all-new Trafic’s dashboard offers 34-litres of storage space in the front of the vehicle and up to 300-litres. Driving aids such as active emergency braking, lane departure warning, driver monitoring system and blind spot warning have also been added to the Trafic range.
In addition to the Trafic SpaceNomad, Renault have unveiled their vision for the future of nomadic life, something which they have dubbed Hippie Caviar Hotel, they say that it is “a hippie-chic vision inspired by the 1960s.” Replete with roof terrace and a rear-facing outwards extending bed, Renault plan to offer a full five-star experience with a concierge service and even drone meal deliveries to the roof…
Alongside the Trafic SpaceNomad, Renault also unveiled the SpaceClass Escapade and Master Campervan. Featuring eight seats and a double bed, the Escapade also has a convertible bench seat and removable table.
The Master Campervan is worked over by renowned motorhome manufacturer, Rimor, and is sold in Germany by Ahorn. It is noted as being a “full comfort” camper van and is based on the Renault Master chassis cab.
It would appear as though there are no plans for any of the above vehicles to be retailed in South Africa.
