GWM is furthering its tribute models through its premium WEY brand, a new set of patent images reveal. This falls part of the premium arm’s strategy to launch 15 new models by 2023 of which two will be sedans.
As revealed by Cheshi, the latest of the lot from GWM will be inspired by the third generation 1968 C10 Nissan Skyline. Unlike the two previous tribute models, this new creation is expected to make use of an ICE and hybrid drivetrain.
The series of patent images reveal a front-end design that is somewhat reminiscent of the iconic Japanese sedan with a pair of dual circular headlamps that are complemented by an intricate 3D design grille. Dynamic presence is characterised by the bow-shaped bonnet line and a slight front splitter.
From the side, the Skyline tribute possesses traditional sedan lines with a fairly long set of overhangs. Interestingly, the profile also shows of a set of rear suicide doors which was not a design cue used on the original model. Further highlights include a shark fin antenna, dynamic design alloy wheels and a unique design element applied to the C-pillar.
At the rear, the dual circular taillamps are used in a similar fashion to what is seen at the front. This is housed in a 3D-design surface that is reminiscent of the chrome plating found on the original model. A splitter that somewhat resembles the one at the front can be noticed here as well.
