Here’s what Kia will call its new baby SUV (and it’s not ‘Tusker’)…

By: CAR magazine

Earlier in May 2019, Kia revealed sketches of its upcoming baby SUV’s exterior and cabin, despite not having announced its name. Now, however, a report out of India claims the Korean automaker has filed a trademark application for the “Seltos” badge.

According to IndianAutosBlog, Kia filed the application back in mid-March 2019.

The claim is supported by recent spy photographs of the new vehicle (wearing the Seltos badge on its rump) taken during what appears to be an official pre-launch filming and photography session.

Earlier rumours, of course, suggested the new SUV – which is set to slot into the brand’s SUV range below the Sportage – would use either the Tusker or Trailster moniker.

Described by Kia as a “new global small SUV”, the Seltos is scheduled to hit the market in Korea in the second half of 2019, with sales in other regions to “follow soon after”.
