Kia Stinger GT replacement unlikely – EV6 GT rumoured as replacement

The Kia Stinger GT is a performance sedan that won the hearts of many when it was introduced to international markets since its reveal in 2017. Despite the reputation it developed, the South Korean brand may not be giving it an official replacement when its life-cycle comes to an end.

According to Autocar, the Kia Stinger GT has not been a big sales success story due to the niche market that it caters towards. As a result, it is understood that this model will be succeeded by the upcoming all-electric EV6 sedan which will be getting a GT variant next year.

Speaking to the brand’s design boss, Karim Habib at this year’s LA motor show, he said “The spirit of Stinger remains and will remain. I like to think that the EV6 has the genes of the GT. We’re doing to do a GT of that, and it has the Stinger in it.

“Stinger has been a transformational car, and opened a whole new perspective as to what Kia can be, sporty and a precision driving tool. EV6 is now doing similar.”

In international markets, the Kia Stinger GT will remain in the brand’s range and is expected to be on sale until at least 2023 or 2024.
