It looks like the Mazda CX-3 may soon be put to rest in select markets such as Europe and the USA. A new report out of Europe suggests that distribution for the compact crossover will come to an end by the end of this year with no plans to replace it.
According to information sourced by AutoKatalog, the spiritual successor of the Mazda CX-3 will be the CX-30 which forms part of the brand’s new crossover strategy. The CX-3 was officially unveiled in 2014 at the Los Angeles Motor Show and went on sale the following year. This model was introduced to compensate for the dwindling demand of the Mazda2.
The Mazda CX-3 was updated in 2018 but throughout its life-cycle the subcompact crossover did not meet the sales expectations of the brand and was removed from certain key markets such as the USA.
The assertion about plans to end the production of the Mazda CX-3 was confirmed in an interview with PR Manager of Mazda Poland, who said “We are finishing accepting orders for the Mazda CX-3, the last units for Europe will be produced in December. As Mazda Motor Poland, due to the approaching end of the year, we no longer plan to order this model for production in the coming months, as the cars from 2021 would reach us in 2022.”
Mazda South Africa has confirmed that the CX-3 will continue to be sold in our local market.
