An updated report out of Europe claims the new RS3 Sportback will be revealed only at the end of the third quarter of 2021.

According to Auto Express, the hottest version of the fourth-generation A3 range will be unveiled in September 2021, before hitting initial markets before the end of that year. It’s not yet clear whether its RS3 sedan twin will be revealed at the same time or whether the three-box version will follow at a later stage.

Frank Michl, Audi Sport’s sales and marketing chief, earlier hinted to the UK-based publication the all-paw RS3 would retain its turbocharged 2,5-litre, five-cylinder petrol engine, though with yet more power.

While the outgoing model – re-introduced to the South African market in limited numbers earlier in 2020 – generates 294 kW and 480 N.m, the new version is expected to boast around 309 kW and 500 N.m.

In March 2020, a report out of Australia suggested the Ingolstadt-based firm was furthermore developing an “extreme” version of the RS3 Sportback, with the flagship variant boasting a peak power output as lofty as 331 kW.
