Next-generation Jaguar F-Type could employ BMW V8

A fresh report out of Europe suggests the next-generation Jaguar F-Type will employ a BMW-sourced V8 powerplant.

According to Auto Express, it is “strongly rumoured” that Jaguar will ditch the supercharged 5,0-litre V8 petrol mill in favour of the Bavarian firm’s 4,4-litre twin-turbo unit, the same 441 kW/750 N.m engine currently featured in many of BMW’s M models.

Earlier in 2019 JLR and BMW Group confirmed that they will join forces for future EV development. Following this announcement, another report claimed BMW would supply four- and six-cylinder engines, “both with and without electrically-assisted hybrid functionality”, to the Whitley-based automaker.
