Currently, the Suzuki Ignis was somewhat considered the crossover variant for the Swift, given they share almost exactly the same chassis. A new rumour out of Japan however, suggests that the next-generation model may introduce an all-new Suzuki Swift Cross.
As reported by Best Car Web, the Suzuki Swift Cross could be introduced along with the new model range which is due for a global release by 2023. This decision is being made to captilise on the success of the Ignis, Japan-specific Crosby, Jimny and Vitara Brezza.
The publication suggests that the new model will use the Suzuki Swift Sport as a base which means it could inherit the already rumoured BoosterJet turbocharged 1,4-litre four-cylinder engine with the 12-volt mild-hybrid system.
The render as supplied by the same publication suggests that this upcoming model will adopt a box-shaped design as noticed in the current Ignis. We can also expect a more dynamic front bumper, slightly flared wheel arches and a tall top-box body.
