Expectedly aimed at a niche market, there was never a high chance that the LBX Morizo RR Concept would ever get off of the ground but Toyota and Lexus have proven the motoring world wrong. There was initially hope that a third model would share the potent three-cylinder that powers the GR Yaris and GR Corolla and it seems the LBX Morizo RR will transition from concept to production model.

Lexus Australia CEO John Pappas expressed confidence in the LBX Morizo RR’s production prospects, although final approval is pending. This compact crossover, featuring the formidable G16E-GTS engine, is anticipated to offer a significant power boost compared to its standard variant, potentially exceeding 220 kW. The LBX Morizo RR, named after Toyota’s former President and CEO’s “Morizo” nickname, could continue to signify a shift towards more exhilarating models within the Toyota and Lexus lineup. While the local branch of Lexus doesn’t stock the standard LBX model, the Japanese luxury automaker could see this performance iteration as an entry for the moniker.
