The Toyota Land Cruiser 300, now available in South Africa, has taken to the new market with much success throughout the globe. The large SUV is so popular that the delivery time for a new model could now take over a year.
As Car Watch reports, Toyota has announced on its international website that delivery for a new Land Cruiser 300 has been extended to one year but this may change depending on the production situation in the future.
The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 has been the talk of many SUV enthusiasts when it was revealed just over two months ago. The LC 300 also ushers in an all-new 3,3-litre V6 twin-turbo diesel engine, which produces 227 kW and 700 N.m. It’s joined by a Lexus-derived 3,5-litre V6 twin-turbo petrol engine that’s rated at 305 kW and 650 N.m. Both engines are paired with a new 10-speed automatic gearbox. Toyota says it will also offer a naturally aspirated V6 petrol in some markets, and this will be paired with a six-speed automatic.
The new range also promises an array of on- and off-road dynamic improvements. Underneath the new Land Cruiser 300 you’ll find a redesigned suspension system which is said to offer even better wheel articulation and, off the beaten track, owners are now assisted by a Multi Terrain Select system, which automatically selects the best driving mode for the conditions at hand. Another tech highlight is the Multi-Terrain Monitor which displays obstacles hidden in front of the vehicle.
Within the market of South Africa, the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 is available in GX-R, ZX and GR-S guise with prices starting at R1 283 200. Just a few weeks ago, Toyota Japan confirmed that its local consumers were banned from reselling their LC300 for 12 months in the interest of global security.
