Recent spy photographs confirmed Volkswagen has plans to add a station-wagon variant to its Arteon range (in some markets, at least). And now a digital artist released renderings imagining the upcoming “shooting brake” model.
Nikita Chuyko over at Russian website kolesa.ru retained much of the front end of the existing fastback model (although added a tweaked bumper design and black side-mirror caps) – interestingly using South African press photographs as a base – but made a raft of changes from the B-pillar back.
Indeed, the digitally altered Arteon wagon gains a longer, sloping roofline, complete with subtle roof rails. It also features black plastic cladding running along its wheel arches and sills, while round back you’ll find a pair of small spoilers. Looking at the leaked images in the Instagram post below, we reckon Chuyko has done a pretty decent job here.
Various reports suggest VW will starting building the new Arteon variant at its Emden facility from late in 2021.
For the record, the local Arteon fastback range (which effectively replaced the Passat in South Africa) was trimmed to a single petrol-powered R-Line variant in the second half of 2019, with a pair of TDI-badged derivatives falling away.
