The South African Guild of Motoring Journalists has announced the 23 finalists for the 2021 Car of the Year competition.
This year the SAGMJ has expanded the number of categories to nine, these being: Budget, Compact, Compact Family, Family, Premium, Performance, Adventure, Double Cab and New Energy. However, the expansion of categories has resulted in two models, the Toyota Hilux and Porsche Taycan, being alone in their respective categories.
These are the 2021 South African Car of the Year Finalists:
BUDGET
COMPACT
COMPACT FAMILY
FAMILY
PREMIUM
PERFORMANCE
ADVENTURE SUV
DOUBLE CAB
NEW ENERGY
The SAGMJ says that the final round of scoring will begin shortly, where the elected jury will evaluate each finalist using a comprehensive electronic score sheet.
“The Car of the Year committee is extremely pleased with the variety of vehicles that made the Finalist round and our jury panel of experts from the South African Guild of Motoring Journalists (SAGMJ) has a tough task ahead of them,” the SAGMJ said.
The results will be made public on June 26, where the guild will announce an overall winner as well as the category winners.
