Porsche has given its Macan compact SUV a second facelift ahead of the arrival of the electric version in 2013, which will run alongside the combustion variants that you see here. Due in South Africa in January 2022, all three Porsche Macan derivatives receive a sharper look, revised cabin and more power.
Buyers can expect to pay R1 050 000 for the Macan, R1 271 00 for the Macan S and R1 551 000 for the GTS.
The entry model retains its four-cylinder turbocharged petrol heart, but the power output has been increased by 10 kW to 195 kW, making it 0,3 seconds faster from 0-100 km/h, which now takes place in 6,2s. Moving to the middle model, the Macan S swaps its predecessor’s 3,0-litre V6 turbo unit for a detuned version of the 2,9-litre engine found in the GTS. With 280 kW on tap, the Macan S has 20 kW more than its predecessor and the 0-100 time is now listed at 4,6 seconds, which is a half-second improvement.
But the real brawn in the range comes from the new Macan GTS derivative, which gains 44 kW to match the previous Turbo derivative’s 324 kW output. 0-100 now takes 4,3 seconds, which is a 0,4s improvement. There’s no word on whether there will be a new (and presumably more potent) version of the Macan Turbo, but for now the revised GTS model certainly seems to fill its shoes.
All of the aforementioned Macan engines are paired with a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission and Porsche Traction Management all-wheel drive system. Speaking of the chassis, the PASM adaptive suspension system has been retuned for all models, and the GTS is further set apart by a now-standard sport air suspension system, which lowers the vehicle by 10mm. Compared with the previous version, the air suspension is 10% more rigid on the front axle and 15% firmer on the back.
On the design front, the revised Macan receives a redesigned frontal section, with an inner section finished in the body’s colour, except for the GTS, which gets a black finish. LED headlights are now standard on all models.
Moving to the back you’ll see a revised diffuser design featuring a new 3D structure. Finally, buyers can also opt for some striking new colours, including Papaya Metallic and Gentian Blue, while the GTS is now available with Python Green.
Inside the 2022 Porsche Macan you’ll find a new multifunction steering wheel as well as a redesigned centre console, on which the previous tactile buttons have been replaced by touch surfaces. The central command system is a 10,9-inch full HD touchscreen system, offering numerous online functions and services.
To match the new exterior colour options, Porsche is also offering a number of leather upholstery and contrasting seam packages in Payaya, Gentian Blue or Crayon.
