Alpina, the Bavarian firm that develops and sells high-performance BMW models, has released a new advertisement taking a swipe at rivals from Mercedes-AMG and Porsche.
Published on its official YouTube channel, the one-minute video shows a Mercedes-AMG GT R and a Porsche 911 GT3 RS battling it out on a strip of tarmac. It’s all very dramatic.
Suddenly, an all-wheel-drive Alpina B5 Bi-Turbo wagon arrives on the scene, effectively forcing the Mercedes out of the way and effortlessly powering on past. Ouch…
For the record, the twin-turbo 4,4-litre V8 in the Alpina B5 churns out 447 kW and 800 N.m, which the firm claims is enough for a sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in just 3,7 seconds and (more importantly in this advert) a top speed of 322 km/h.
