Pagani has revealed its new track-focused Huayra R, complete with a screaming naturally aspirated 6,0-litre V12 engine.
The 12-cylinder racing engine was “designed from the ground up” in partnership with HWA AG and drives the rear wheels via a new six-speed sequential, non-synchronised, dog-ring gearbox.
The fresh powertrain delivers 625 kW at 8 250 r/min and 750 N.m from 5 500 to 8 300 r/min. It boasts a red line of 9 200 r/min and tips the scales at 198 kg.
The exhaust system is fashioned from Inconel 625/718 alloy and is coated in ceramic. Pagani describes the soundtrack as “pure emotion”, thanks to the unique design of the manifolds and tailpipes, with identical length exhaust pipes for all twelve cylinders.
“The new engine had to have the charm, romance, sound and simplicity of the F1 engines of the 1980s, while incorporating state-of-the-art technology available today,” said founder Horacio Pagani.
