Let’s face it, with a mere 1 305 kW on tap the standard SSC Tautara was a bit of a donkey. Nevermind that it recently became the first production car in the world to exceed 500 km/h. But just in case anyone out there ever accused it of not being ridiculously fast, the US hypercar specialist did what it does best by creating an even more powerful version.
Meet the SSC Tautara Aggressor.
This track-only version of the Tautara hypercar was designed to give customers the freedom to “nearly limitless” design and performance options that are simply not possible in the road-legal versions.
Key among these is the option to increase the output of the hypercar’s 5,9-litre twin-turbo V8 to 1 640 kW. However, SSC hasn’t mentioned how it achieved these gains, or how much faster it is as a result.
In keeping with its role as a track car, the Tautara Aggressor receives an exclusive carbon dashboard and roll structure, and it’s also available with customised race seats with five-point harnesses.
Tautara Striker edition
Alongside the Aggressor, SSC has also revealed a version of the Tautara called the striker. While it retains the ‘standard’ output of 1 305 kW, which is only achievable when there’s E85 ethanol in the tank, the Striker comes with a raft of impressive aerodynamic features. These include both an active rear wing and a high-downforce fixed wing, as well as an augmented diffuser and vertical stabiliser. What this all adds up to is a three-fold improvement in downforce, SSC claims.
A track-focused interior is part of the deal here too and clients can opt for a n exposed carbon fibre dashboard as well as extensive alcantara configurations.
Speaking of carbon fibre, the Tautara’s entire body and monocoque structure are hewn from this advanced lightweight material.
“The Tuatara is designed and built to be a show of force wherever it goes,” SSC founder Jarod Shelby enthused.
“Whether it’s a drive through town, a high-speed pass down a runway, or laps around a technical track, it excels at whatever the driver engages the car to do”.
With the Aggressor and Striker packages, customers are limited only by their imagination, SSC asserts.
