We are used to seeing the sprint times of hyper cars’ (and some super cars) dash to 100 km/h dip on occasion below the magical 3,0-second barrier – which is an achievement on its own. However, if you look at the little car above, you won’t think it can be that quick. But, this car just broke the world record by achieving a time of 1,779 seconds!
This was achieved by a car developed by students of the University of Stuttgart. This time is 0,006 seconds faster than the previous record, although it must still be confirmed by Guinness World Records.
Now, the interesting fact is that the car was not equipped with a massive engine. Equipped with four electric motors and a 6,62 kWh battery, the 100 kW, all-wheel electric vehicle achieved this new record, definitely helped by the fact that maximum torque is available from 0 r/min. The project formed part of the Formula Student competitions.
Who said the future of electric cars is going to be boring!
