Emission regulations have throttled the like of the GT-R in regions such as Europe. However, despite this, Nissan has unveiled what might be the R35’s final iteration. Here’s all you need to know about the 2024 Nissan GT-R R35.
To the dismay of some optimistic Nissan enthusiasts, we didn’t get to see the fabled R36 brought to life. What we did get though was a breath of life injected into the beloved GT-R badge in the form of a T-Spec and NISMO variants. Each configuration sees the introduction of. Revised front grille, a slew of aero-dynamic elements and improvements made to the ride quality apparently evident in a lessened noise and vibration. Nissan states that in the pursuit of enhanced onboard comfort, the hearty thrum of the car’s engine has gone through some tuning.
Aside from the slight facelift evident in both models’ front grilles, the R35’s skeleton remains somewhat similar to the previous version. The T-spec is outfitted with the tried and tested VR38DETT that offers the same power outputs as previous Pure and Black Editions of the R35 —419 kW and 637 Nm to be exact. Although not receiving power plant upgrades, it is gifted with specially set suspension and carbon disc brakes.
The NISMO is where we see the bulk of Nissan’s generational updating efforts. Powered by a heavily modified variant of the VR38DETT, the NISMO 2024 R35’s power plant has seen the introduction of high-precision weight-balanced pistons, connecting rods, crankshafts and to top it all off… a clear-coated NISMO exclusive carbon engine hood. All of the additional hardware and classic NISMO tuning result in a power output of around 441 kW and 652 Nm. Nissan states that the 2024 NISMO GT-R R35 is “ the highest-performance GT-R ever”. The NISMO model also receives exclusive RECARO carbon fibre bucket seats to add some extra flare in the modernised interior.
The T-spec model will be released not too far from now with the NISMO models scheduled to go on sale later this year. Nissan’s COO Ashwani Gupta had this to say about the 2024 GT-R models “the new models are the pinnacle of the GT-R R35”. Do you agree?
