Dayun arrived in South Africa in July 2024 and is imported and distributed exclusively through the Enviro Automotive group. Not much is known about Dayun’s South African plans (future models, product impressions, etc.), but it presently has the most affordable EV in South Africa. The Yuehu S5 is the sole model in the automaker’s passenger vehicle portfolio and comprises only two derivatives. It employs a 31.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack powering a front-mounted electric motor that produces 35 kW and 105 N.m, and offers a claimed operating range of 330 km. Given the car’s city-focused approach, the top speed is a peak-traffic appropriate 100 km/h.
