Denza Fast Facts
- Headquarters: Shenzhen, China
- Founded: 2010
- SA lineup: TBC
- Dealerships: TBC
In May 2010, Denza was established through a joint venture between BYD and Daimler AG (now Mercedes-Benz Group). However, a 2021 restructuring saw BYD take 90% in the venture, followed by complete control in 2024. While Denza has been sold exclusively in China for most of its existence, 2024 also saw it venturing outside mainland China to Hong Kong – a right-hand drive market versus the mainland’s LHD. BYD will launch this sub-brand in parts of Europe soon, further fueling speculation that an SA debut may be in the cards. Denza’s current portfolio comprises an MPV, SUVs, and Z9 sedan and Z9 GT estate. The vehicles are available as either an EV or a PHEV.
