With the sixth-generation Triton scheduled to arrive sometime in the first half of 2024, this may very well be the last iteration of the locally available fifth-generation. This bespoke Triton model is limited in numbers and its unique presentation is said to be inspired by Cafe Racer concepts of yore. Distinguishing features range from the decals found on the bonnet, tailgate, and side strips that feature the number “01”. Additional denominators include a front bumper, side steps and rear bumper finished in Red as a nod to the esteemed Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution model.
The Athlete model’s exterior is also home to upgraded LED headlights with black accents and model-specific 18-inch black alloy wheels. As for the interior, the Triton Athlete features a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a parking brake, seats, and a floor console finished in black leather with red accent stitching.

At its core, the Triton Athlete relies on the same 2,4-litre turbodiesel four-cylinder that’s found in the rest of the range. This means that the Athlete model has a power output of 133kW/450 N.m. The competent four-pot is mated to Mitsubishi’s six-speed automatic transmission.
