Toyota has handed the Prius various upgrades, with the local arm of the Japanese firm announcing the hybrid sedan is now offered with fresh infotainment tech and improved safety equipment as standard, plus a new paint option.
On the inside, the Prius’ infotainment software has been updated to include functions such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen mirroring – now displayed on a higher-resolution touchscreen – and Toyota Connect as standard. The latter functionality offers in-car Wi-Fi connectivity, with 15 gigabytes of data is included with compliments from Toyota.
A telematics interface which is run by the MyToyota smartphone application completes the package.The most notable features come in the shape of the added safety equipment. The updated Prius ships standard with Toyota Safety Sense. The latter package includes a suite of safety technologies, such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, rear cross traffic alert and a pre-crash system.
Automatic high beam functionality is also included.The Prius is once again offered with the choice of eight body hues. However, Pearl White has now been replaced by Platinum White Pearl which, Toyota says, promises even more lustre to the hybrid sedan.
So, what about pricing? The refreshed Prius is priced at R566 400.
