The new Volkswagen Amarok 3,0 V6 TDI is a bakkie with impressive performance which is why bulletproofing specialist SVI saw it as a perfect canvas for its next product. With 190 kW and 580 N.m of torque on tap under the bonnet, this will be the firm’s most powerful standard armoured double-cab bakkie.
To provide the German bakkie with a full B6 protection, which includes fire from an AK47 and R1, a 12 week production time is needed. In this time, the Amarok is stripped down to the bare metal and is built up as a unit using special steel armoured plates and composite materials. 38 mm thick armoured glass replaces the original glazing while the suspension is upgraded to manage the additional 650 kg of mass.
Pricing for the B6 conversion starts at R 655 000 before options are added. The standard SVI warranty of one-year/50 000km applies on the armouring for road use. Three units have already been assembled.
