We all know by now the future of Volvo Cars is electric, the new Volvo C40 Recharge is one of the latest manifestations of the company’s commitment to a zero-emission future.
The Volvo C40 Recharge has all the benefits of an SUV but with a lower and sleeker design aiding its bid for low fuel economy. It is based on the CMA vehicle platform and is the first Volvo model in history designed as pure electric only.
The rear of the Volvo C40 Recharge features a striking rear-end design to go with the lower roof line, while the new front design introduces a new face for electric Volvos and includes headlights with state-of-the-art pixel technology.
The twin-motor version boasts an electric motor on each axle, powered by a 78 kWh lithium-ion battery pack offering a single-charge range of up to 451 km, according to the WLTP driving cycle. Peak outputs stand at 300 kW of power and 660 N.m of torque, which facilitates a rapid 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 4,7 seconds.
The C40 Recharge is available in two trims, Plus and Ultimate, which feature a 100% leather-free interior and an Android Operating System for the infotainment. Moreover, the Ultimate trim gets a Panoramic moonroof, Pixel LED lighting, Pilot Assist, Harmon Kardon Premium Sound, a 360° Surround View Camera, and unique 20-inch wheels.
