“With the EM90, we’re taking Volvo Cars’ heritage and leadership in safety into the exciting new electric MPV segment. It allows us to tap new market demand we’ve not explored before and broadens the appeal of the Volvo brand to more people.” – Jim Rowan, chief executive at Volvo Cars.
Devoid of the humming found in an ICE, the Scandinavian electric MPV is distinguished by its bold exterior design elements. Focal points of its exterior design range from the “Thor’s Hammer” headlight array, illuminating front grille and logo, Volvo’s signature vertical taillights and its wheels designed to improve aerodynamic efficiency, which is offered in either 19-inch or 20-inch configuration.
Designed to be “a living room on the move”, the Volvo EM90 attempts to entice consumers with its plush leather-laden cabin featuring a bevvy of technological amenities such as the 15,4-inch infotainment screen, 21-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system, a roof-mounted 15,6-inch, and a built-in air purifier to name a few. Coupled with a premium interior layout is the all-electric driving experience.

The Volvo EM90 is propelled by a 200 kW e-motor that has enough strength to muster the EM90 from a standstill to 100 km/h in 8,3 seconds. Additional powertrain components include a 116 kWh battery, which Volvo claims offers a charging time from 10% to 80% in under 30 minutes and features a driving range of up to 738 km.
“It’s an age-old cliché, but there really is no place like home. A place to connect with your loved ones, to truly be yourself. It’s this feeling of home that inspired our new EM90, a car with room for life.”
Founded on the knowledge and experience garnered over 96 years, the Volvo EM90 features the firm’s most cutting-edge technology and comfort. The Chinese market will be the first to sample the new Volvo EM90.
