The Festival of Speed at Goodwood had been bombarded by BMW M’s 50th-anniversary shenanigans where the G81 M3 Touring made its debut. Showcasing its astonishing athleticism on the Goodwood hill, this G81 can be seen wearing an assortment of M Performance fashion pieces.
Beginning as a special appearance at one of the largest automotive events in the world to being announced as the next safety car for the MotoGP series, the G81 has already made a name for itself. That said, this example of an already stunning car becomes even more eye-pleasing as a result of the included M Performance Package. Immediately the multi-spoke M Performance wheels with a gold finish wrapped in Yokohama Advan Sport tyres. These wheels are available as options for the G80 and G82.
On its face are a set of carbon fibre canards punctuated by carbon fibre air ducts curtailed by a carbon fibre M Performance front splitter. Rounding the flank of the G81, adding depth to the Touring’s figure is the carbon fibre M Performance side skirt and carbon fibre mirror caps. On the rear are the carbon fibre rear splitter and carbon fins.
Alongside the rear splitter is the Caron fibre quad-tip exhausts. The Ice white paint finish contrasts beautifully with the glossy black accents and carbon fibre. The indents above the front wheel are gloss black s well as the roof, which features a carbon fibre fin.
Like the G80 and G82 with a base asking price of R1.8 million and up, the G81 M3 Touring could easily begin within the R2 million range. Unsurprisingly replicating this spec on your G81 would quickly escalate the price, especially considering that this example seems to have every box ticked. Although there’s very little word on the M3’s arrival to our African shores, orders open closer to the end of the third quarter.
