But this week we’re taking a look at the other end of the used market: the most expensive second-hand cars out there. Budget? What budget?
Yes, we’ve had a search of Gumtree to find the five most expensive four-wheeled things currently on sale (click the vehicle name to see the posting in question):
1. Lamborghini Countach
The most expensive vehicle on Gumtree right now is predictably rather exotic. And it’s also from 1982. Yes, the Countach employs a mid-mounted V12, with the seller claiming this particular example is in “good condition”. The price? A princely R8,5-million…
2. Lamborghini Aventador Roadster
Second on the list is another Lamborghini. But this open-top Aventador LP 700-4 is from 2013, and has just 6 800 km on the clock. The 6,5-litre V12 is good for 515 kW and 690 N.m, which translates to a 3,0-second sprint from standstill to 100 km/h. It’s for sale for R7 599 900.
Have a spare R6 199 000 burning a hole in your pocket? Then you may want to consider this lightly used 2016 version of the 650S Spider, which apparently has just 1 350 km on the odometer. Power comes from a 3,8-litre twin-turbo V8, allowing a 3,0-second dash to three figures.
You were waiting for a Ferrari, weren’t you? Well, this 2016 version of the 488 GTB is priced at R5 999 995, with the seller claiming a total mileage of just 200 km. It employs a 3,9-litre twin-turbo V8 worth 493 kW and 760 N.m, and can hit 100 km/h in (you guessed it) a claimed 3,0 seconds.
5. Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4
Three out of five isn’t bad, is it? Yes, the third Lamborghini on this list is a 2015 Huracan LP 610-4, priced at R5 299 995. With around 7 000 km on the clock, this Italian monster is powered by a 5,2-litre V10 making 449 kW and 560 N.m. The obligatory sprint takes 3,2 seconds.
