Will BMW build a GTS version of its M2? Well, while the rumours continue to swirl, an independent tuning house called Alpha-N has stepped in to fill the apparent void.
With the M4 GTS already sold out, Alpha-N has decided to create an “affordable” alternative, using the M2 as a platform.
Visually, the M2 GTS gains a plethora of carbon-fibre fittings clearly inspired by the M4 GTS, including a new bonnet, front spoiler with an adjustable air splitter, brake ducts, an underbody diffuser, mirror caps and a boot-mounted rear wing.
A carbon-fibre roof is also included in order to make the M2 GTS lighter and stiffer. The kidney grilles, side skirts and 20-inch M Competition wheels are finished in gloss-black.
The M2 GTS also benefits from a software-based performance upgrade. The twin-turbo 3,0-litre straight-six engine now delivers 336 kW, although the tuner says a more powerful variant will be available by the end of the year.
Handling is also improved thanks to the addition of Öhlins Road & Track fully adjustable coil-over suspension, while the ceramic brakes have also been pilfered from the M4 GTS.
The Alpha-N GTS package is also available for the M3 and M4 Coupe, and parts can be purchased individually or as a package.
