The head of design at Mercedes-Benz says the so-called “predator face” adopted by the box-fresh A-Class and new CLS will not be applied to all models in the Stuttgart-based automaker’s line-up.
According to CarAdvice, Gorden Wagener, chief design officer of Mercedes-Benz, said that the new face would be “dedicated to our most progressive cars”.
Wagener went on to describe the A-Class and CLS as “very design-orientated” models, explaining that they are “very much on opposite ends of our range, so they don’t hurt each other”. The 49-year-old also revealed that the new front-end design would not be applied to the next C-Class.
He added that pushing the new headlamp design of the A-Class through to production was tricky.
“It’s very hard to do headlamps so small. We squeezed the engineers here quite a bit, but it makes it super aggressive, super high-tech and modern looking,” Wagener said, according to CarAdvice.
