Peugeot has just taken the wraps off its facelifted 2008 light crossover which will feature minor styling revisions on the interior and exterior and a new range of engines. The Peugeot crossover segment should be on a high after its 3008 claimed victory at the 2016 Dakar Rally and its range of PureTech motor received a number of awards.
The exterior changes of the 2008 gives the crossover more of a robust personality thanks to the implementation of extended plastic wheel arches, anti-scuff plating and a wave roof design with roof racks. Detailing cues also include a redesigned black and chrome LED headlamp cluster, 17-inch alloy wheels and Peugeot’s new diamond grille.
Within the cabin of the 2008, Peugeot has made use of its GT Line trim for the entire range featuring the use of the red and black colour scheme. The software updates include the Peugeot i-Cockpit (for “an intuitive, agile, flexible and safe driving experience” but its basically a driver assist package) and MirrorLink integration. The 1/3 – 2/3 modular seat backs also remain.
Powering the 2008 will be the new 82, 110S&S and 130S&S PureTech turbopetrol and current BlueHDI turbodiesel engines mated to a five-speed manual or six-speed EAT6 automatic transmission for the petrol and a standard six-speed automatic transmission for the diesel.
For any adventurous driving the front wheels of the 2008 have been equipped with Grip Control which can be read through the iCockpit system. With this, drivers will be able to make use of the standard, snow, all-terrain and sand modes to tackle those respective environments.
Peugeot has confirmed that the 2008 facelift will arrive in South Africa this September. Pricing is yet to be revealed.
