REVEALED: Toyota Auris gets a facelift

By: Steve Smith

The Japanese giants have revealed a facelift of their Toyota Auris ahead of the Geneva Motor Show next month. It will include an updated interior, tech and engine range.

The second gen. Auris was first launched in 2013 so this is relatively early for a mid-cycle update – it’s not a bad idea though given the stiff competition it faces in this C-segment hatch niche with the likes of the dominant Golf, and the Ford Focus about to get a facelift.

Exterior changes are fairly mild with a slightly sharper nose and some extra chrome, and while they haven’t released any images of the rear, we expect similarly subtle teaks.

It’s inside though, where most of the changes have been made – including higher quality materials and Toyota’s Safety Sense active safety systems that include front crash assist, advanced radar cruise-control and rear cross-traffic detection.

As mentioned, there will be some changes under the bonnet too, though Toyota have yet to release details beyond an assurance that they will boost performance and efficiency.

The facelifted Toyota Auris will be launched in South Africa during the second quarter of 2015.
